How is living in Nara?

I used to live in Osaka, but Nara is different from the urban areas and is very peaceful. I can make progress in my studies even when I am spending my time at home because I can stay focused. There is a lot of nature and the scenery is beautiful, so I am very pleased to be living in Nara.

Are there any things that trouble you?

Than
I was a bit startled because there were fewer trains. But I have found that this is not a big problem as I got used to living here. The rent is cheap in Nara and the houses have a lot more space than those in urban areas. I am also happy that I can buy fresh vegetables at cheap prices. The neighbors are very friendly and kind.

Why did you come to Nara?

Ever since I was in secondary school, I wanted to study abroad and work in various countries all over the world. After studying Japanese for four years in university, I enrolled in a Japanese graduate school and found Japan to be a very comfortable country to live in. I strongly felt the urge of wanting to stay longer and started looking for a job in Japan. There were many companies with good working conditions in Nara, but this company offered what I wanted to pursue the most. Therefore, I chose to work at this company.

How is your daily life in Nara?

It is very convenient because there are various kinds of shops nearby. I recommend this area because the people in Nara are very kind and Nara is an easy place to live in.

Nara has a relaxed atmosphere, which is also a good point. The people love their local areas. Many live close to work and work for a long time. It is also good that the rent in Nara is cheaper compared to larger cities and it is located in a place where it is easy to travel to these larger cities.

What are some reasons why you chose to work for our company?

I was interested in the fact that this company conducts business and competes in the global market, having its own and unique skills of handling a wide variety of processing in manufacturing tooling parts that connect machine tools and cutting tools.

How is it employing foreign workers? What kind of people are active in the company?

The first time we employed a foreign worker was a couple of years ago and we recruited a person from China thinking that the Chinese industry will grow in the future. Currently, he is taking an active role as the leader of the Chinese workforce. There are cases where it is difficult to do business unless you understand the distinct cultures and customs in business each country has, but thanks to our foreign workers, there are many cases where the negotiations go very smoothly. By utilizing their language skills and knowledge of cultures, foreign workers who are earnest, responsible, and actively taking action are those succeeding. All of our employees motivation involved in manufacturing increase when we hear reports such as, “Our products are sold in China”.

Do you have any advice for exchange students who are job hunting in Japan?

Iwata
We hope you will consider Nara as a possibility because there are many excellent companies. There are many job hunting related events that you can participate in. I believe it is important to have the mindset of wanting to gain experience and enhancing knowledge. In addition, the willingness to challenge many things through utilizing your language skills. I hope that you make use of the opportunities and challenge yourself.

I totally agree. It is very important to challenge yourself with new things, figure out what kind of job you want, and consider what kind of job suits you. I feel it would be very difficult to continue working for a long time without doing so. It is also important to consider beforehand whether you can make a contribution to the company and consider how the job content will benefit you.

Why did you come to Nara?

I came to Japan to study after learning Japanese for three months in Shanghai. I chose a school in Nara because there was an exemption from school tuition fees for exchange students.

How is it living in Nara?

Xu
I have an image that Nara is a historical Japanese ancient city. When I first came to Nara, I felt that the city was very peaceful and full of beautiful scenery. Not too urban and not too rural. I like Nara the best because it has very convenient public transportation. I have no worries because the supermarket and convenience store is very close to where I live. I usually go out on my days off because there are many tourist spots in Nara.

I can improve my Japanese because communication is the core of my work

What are some reasons you chose this job?

Xu
There are no qualifications that are related to nursing care in China. I chose this job because there may be business opportunities in the future when the aging of the population in China progresses. In addition, I can feel that my Japanese is improving quickly through this job because I have the opportunity to communicate with a lot of people. My Japanese colleagues and customers teach me a lot of things about Japan. I feel this job is attractive in both the aspects of improving in your Japanese and learning about Japan.

Do you have any advice for exchange students who are job hunting in Japan?

Okada
It is important to gain a lot of information that is realistic. It is difficult trying to understand something you have never seen before. It is important to listen to a lot of people too, but the most important thing is that you see it yourself. Please don’t just enter a company and work, think about how you want to progress after entering the company. In order to do so, it is important to clarify why you want to work in Japan. What do you think XU?

I agree. It is important that you first have a goal and put in the effort to achieve it. I have worked hard with the belief that someone will be there to help you if put in the effort. People who acknowledge this will support you. You can do more if you think about the people who are cheering for you. I hope fellow exchange students who are job hunting in Japan work hard to achieve their goals.

Why do you think Nara is comfortable to live and work in?

Xu
I feel safe living in Nara because there are many other foreign workers and we can help each other out any time. The people in Nara are very peaceful and kind. They are like a Great Buddha. I’m sure there are many good companies in Nara that won’t exhaust you mentally. Please take the opportunity to visit some companies in Nara.

Why did you decide to come to Japan? What has changed after coming to Japan?

I came to Japan to get better at Japanese after graduating from university in Thailand. I have built the courage to challenge myself with many things through living on my own in Japan.

I am very pleased. I have always loved nature, so I prefer living in the countryside more than the city. I first thought that living in the city would be more convenient, but Nara has a lot of nature and is a great place to enjoy a relaxing life. In addition, the people here are caring and very kind.

I want to bridge Thailand and Japan through events

What are some reasons why you chose to work for our company?

I learned about the company through a recruiting site online. I enjoy events and wanted to get a job where I can meet a lot of people. Currently, I am working hard to find more opportunities that would bridge Japan and Thailand which is where I grew up. I can interact with people from different cultures and this job is very rewarding because clients express their appreciation by saying “Thank you”. It is fascinating to see clients happy after a successful event.

We give opportunities to even newer employees fairly, so there are cases where employees in their first and second years are promoted to branch managers. What should exchange students be careful of when job hunting in Japan?

I feel that job hunting is like hitch hiking. It is important to keep in mind where you want to go, to deeply understand what the purpose is, what kind of car (company) you are riding in, and where the goal is. We hope you will also consider the good parts of Nara. Nara has a very long history.

Nara is where Japan was founded and a place where you can learn about Japan the most. Various temples and shrines which represent Japan are everywhere and there is no other place better for you than Nara to learn about the Japanese way of thinking and culture. It is a great location to live in with easy access to Osaka and Kyoto. Also, convenient for shopping. Do you have any advice, Byoo?

Let me see. I think it is better to try as much as you can to do the things you want to do and meet as many people as possible. That way you can broaden your views and realize what you want to do or come across chances to find good companies. Please find out what you like to do and challenge yourself with many things without discarding the chances you are given.
